EU-ZW, CUT: KEY MILESTONES IN 2025
News

Training emerged as the main driver towards the achievement of the Project’s objectives and milestones. The face-to-face meeting in Sweden was a big inspiring factor, the shared experiences with the other projects was worthwhile. The experiences were shared back home as a way of disseminating the key takeaways of the physical meeting in Sweden. Sharing experiences and capacity building proved to be underpinning necessities of the EU-ZW project.

Some of the gained skills involved the module development in the Learnify platform. During the local meeting, teachers were taken through the steps, highlighting the use of the templates within the Learnify that aid the development process. Two workshops were carried out as a way of pushing up the traction rate on module development, which was disturbingly low. Explanations on the definitions and steps towards developing a module in the Learnify (during a feedback meeting) had a positive impact towards revitalizing the commitment. The participants requested for a physical workshop after realizing how much the shared knowledge can capacitate them. Navigating through the steps of development including the formats and organizations of learning materials together with immediate assistance was perceived to speed up the appreciation and help expedite the delivery of modules in the Learnify.

The Challenge Driven Learning development took an adaptation of the Sri Lanka Challenge to locally identified Challenge. The development was overly collaborative, all the Zimbabwe institutions collectively develop a common Challenge, “Sustainable Energy Provision”, however, with subthemes per partner. The approach lessened the workload and promoted collaboration, which is normally absent among the universities.

Remote lab development cakewalk, however, we are close to towering beyond the horizon. A preliminary trial of the Remote Lab under development indicated some significant progress, we have almost reached a Eureka moment. The Lab was operated from a PC, and some results were captured. However, we still have a lot of refinements and communication and access to attend to. Shown in picture is partially assembled Energy Efficiency Remote Laboratory (EERL) including the PC and lab server.
