Samson Mhlanga (EU-ZW CoC), presented the above paper at the Education for Sustainability Development of Inter-disciplinary Research (ESDIR) Conference which ran from the 16-18th Oct 2024 at National University of Science and Technology (NUST) campus under the theme "Exploring Innovative Approaches & Emerging Trends in Education for Sustainable Development.
The paper highlighted the development of Labs for Solar Thermal, Wind, Biogas, Battery Storage and Photovoltaic for Productive use by the local partners National University of Science and Technology, Midlands State University, University of Zimbabwe, Lupane State University, Chinhoyi University of Technology supported by Mälardalen University , Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and Explore Energy AB Sweden. Much attention was drawn with participants already wanting to book a slot in the labs which are at procurement stage.
The project involved review of Labs in sister projects EUBBC (in Bolivia) and EUSL (Greece and Sri Lanka) and development of local content for Labs where students in the country and internationally can access the Labs via hardware (telecommunication equipment) and software to undertake experiments over the internet. The EU-ZW project is currently at procurement stage for the Labs which we expect to be up and running early 2025. The project EU-ZW Digital Challenge Driven Energy Learning Collaboration Between EU and Zimbabwe is funded by European Union.
The conference was graced by Prof Kuzvinetsa Dzvimbo ZIMCHE CEO and over 75 participants physically and over 50 participants online from the United States of America, India, South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini, Botswana and Zimbabwe as host with over 37 institutions represented.
